Life at St. Mary of Carmel
Pre-Kindergarten Dress Code
All clothing must be managed by the child. For this reason, it is recommended that children wear elastic waist pants or shorts. Please dress your child in comfortable play clothes. The children do go outside almost every day and should be dressed accordingly. Dresses and skirts must be worn with shorts underneath and are not as easy to play in on the playground. These children do a lot of climbing, etc., so shoes need to be rubber soled, tie or Velcro, with no lights, no buckles, no sandals, and no boots. Please do not send accessories to school with your pre-kindergarten child such as jewelry, purses, combs, money, or toys. St. Mary of Carmel Catholic School will not be responsible for lost articles. Accidents and spills happen, so please send an extra set of clothes in your child’s backpack. The student’s name should be on all garments with permanent ink or name tags.

Cafeteria
Hot lunches are served daily in the school cafeteria. Lunch menus are sent home monthly. Parents are asked to order and pre-pay student lunches on a monthly basis. Lunches may also be purchased daily: $2.50 for grades PK through 2, and $2.75 for grades 3 through 8. Students who qualify for the USDA program may be eligible for free or reduced priced lunches. Application forms are sent to all school families and letters of notification are sent to the family regarding their eligibility.
Students may also bring their lunches from home. For your child’s safety, do not send any glass containers or carbonated sodas. Lunches brought in from fast food restaurants are not allowed with the exception of Student Appreciation Day during Catholic Schools Week. Soft drinks may not be brought to school or purchased from the vending machines during school hours. Please note that we are unable to warm, cook, or refrigerate lunch items brought from home.
