John Sabine
Member of the Advancement Committee
John is a Gift Officer at Jesuit Dallas College Preparatory High School whose responsibilities include working with members of the Jesuit Community to secure major and planned gifts that provide the resources necessary to educate and form Men for Others at Jesuit and to support the Jesuit faculty. Prior to his time at Jesuit, his career spanned more than 30 years as a leasing executive in the commercial real estate industry, leasing and developing shopping centers across the United States. He has also served, briefly, as a Catholic high school teacher, administrator, and coach. John holds an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University, an M.A. from St. Louis University and a B.A. from Saint Anselm College. |
Norma Nelson
Member of the Governance and Membership Committee
Norma serves as President and CEO of Readers 2 Leaders (R2L), a literacy non-profit serving West Dallas that was formed in 2010. Norma was the first person hired by R2L and has been instrumental in developing all R2L programs. Prior to working with R2L, Norma spent eight years as an educator. She has experience teaching 1st-8th grade, and served as Assistant Principal and Curriculum Director for St. Mary of Carmel. Norma holds a B.A. and a M.Ed. from the University of Notre Dame. She also is the recipient of two education awards through the University of Notre Dame: The Michael Pressley Award for Excellence in Catholic Education and The Alliance for Catholic Education’s Scott C. Malpass Founders Prize, for her work with R2L. |
Gregg McHugh
Membership Committee
Gregg serves as the Executive Director of the DII Asbestos Trust, which compensates victims of asbestos exposure. Before becoming Executive Director, Gregg served as the Trust’s General Counsel for ten years. Before joining the Trust, Gregg worked as an attorney for Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P.
Gregg earned a B.A. from Amherst College and a J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.
Katherine Staton
Katherine is a partner in the Trial and Appellate Litigation section of Jackson Walker, where she assists clients with complex legal issues. She also is a C.P.A.
Katherine received a B.A., with honors, from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio and a J.D. from the S.M.U. School of Law.

John Daly
John is an attorney and Chief Information Officer at the DII Asbestos Trust where he utilizes his unique blend of legal and information technology expertise to manage the Trust’s data security program. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional and Certified Information Privacy Manager by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
John holds a B.A. from the University of Dayton and a J.D. from Baylor University Law School.
Arturo Herrera

Member of the Finance and Compensation Committees
Kevin is a Financial Planning Manager and CPA at the Ecom Group, a global soft commodities merchant. Kevin's responsibilities include budgeting and investment analysis. Prior to his time at Ecom, Kevin worked at Deloitte as an international tax consultant. He is currently on the Board of the Notre Dame Club of Dallas where he served as President in 2017, and previously served on the Board of Young Community Partners of Dallas. Kevin received a B.A. and an M.S.A. from the University of Notre Dame. |
Mike Duffy
Chair of the Finance and Compensation Committees
Mike has served on the St. Mary of Carmel Board since August 2018. He also serves of the board of Atlantic Housing Foundation, a non-profit provider of low income housing, and is a partner and past Board member at Social Venture Partners – Dallas, where he has advised non-profits like Education Opens Doors. Mike is the Chief Operating Officer at Trammell Crow Company, one of the largest commercial real estate developers in the country.
Mike holds a BBA in Finance from Notre Dame and a Master of Management from Northwestern University.
Nicholas Reineke
Nick is a Director of Strategic Partnerships at Blackboard, where he assists universities in their student success initiatives through marketing, enrollment, and student support solutions. Before joining Blackboard, he was at Microsoft for six years selling to C.I.O.'s and V.P.'s of large enterprises in the South Central region of the U.S.
Nick holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
Mary Ann Wernick
Mary Ann is a mother of four; a retired elementary school teacher; and a champion for the homeless, the hungry, and the students of the Diocese of Dallas seeking the path to college and heaven. She also is a long-time supporter of the North Texas Food Bank, Catholic Charities, the Catholic Foundation, and the University of Notre Dame Alliance for Catholic Education and has served as a community volunteer for over forty years in a variety of governance, fund-raising, and tutoring roles at St. Patrick School, Ursuline Academy, Jesuit College Prep, and Bishop Dunne.
Kathleen Wunderlick
Kathleen is a Partner and Financial Advisor at WWA Integrated Wealth Strategy Group where she has been working for the last 11 years. She also is an insurance agent with Northwestern Mutual and a registered representative of Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, LLC. She specializes in helping families prepare for the future while living in the now.
Kathleen is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of North Texas.

Grant Schmidt
Grant is a senior associate at the law firm Winston & Strawn here in Dallas. He specializes in commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, and white collar criminal defense.
He received a B.A., with honors, from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law.
Bill Mateja
Bill is a partner in Sheppard Mullin’s White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice Group in the law firm's Dallas office. He is an established white collar trial lawyer with a particular focus on healthcare fraud and securities enforcement. A former prosecutor at the highest levels of the Department of Justice, Bill was responsible for all the Department’s white collar operations, as well as the day-to-day workings of its corporate fraud task force. He also served as Special Counsel for Health Care fraud overseeing all of the Department’s healthcare fraud enforcement.
Bill holds a B.S. from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law.
