FAQs
- School hours are 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The day begins with prayer in the school cafeteria.
- The school community attends Mass at 8:00 every Friday.
- Students enterint Pre-Kindergarten must be four years old by September 1st.
- Students enterint Kindergarten must be five years old by September 1st.
- Lunch is served daily. St. Mary's participates in the government's free and reduced lunch program. The cost per lunch this year is $2.25 for Pre-K through fourth grade and $2.50 for fifth through eighth grades. To qualify for free or reduced price lunch, you must complete an application form for each child (available in the school office) and return it before the beginning of the school year.
- After school care is available from 3:15 to 6:00 p.m. on school days. For the 2006-2007 school year, the cost will be $6.50 per day for the first child, and $5.00 per day for each additional child.
- All students are expected to complete summer enrichment work to keep skills sharp and help students be better prepared for standardized testing in September.
Uniform
Students in Pre-K do not wear uniforms. Students in K-8th wear the school uniform purchased through Parker School Uniform. Physical education uniform is purchased through the school.
- Girls' Uniform
- Grades K-4 wear a plaid jumper, white Peter-Pan collar blouse. Grades 5-8 wear a plaid skirt (length one inch above the knee) and white Oxford blouse. All girls may wear a navy acrylic cardigan or V-neck sweater OR the official navy or white uniform sweatshirt (purchased through the school), white over-the-ankle socks. black low-heel loafers (slip-ons) or leather dress shoes. No athletic shoes, boots, or fad styles. In winter months, girls may also wear navy or khaki uniform pants with belts.
- Boys' Uniform
- Grades K-8 wear khaki perma-press pants with a black or brown belt, white oxford shirt (long or short sleeves), or optional white knit shirt. Boys may also wear navy acrylic cardigan or V-neck sweater OR the official navy or white uniform sweatshirt (purchased through the school), white over-the-ankle socks, black low-heel leather loafers (slip-ons) or black leather tied dress shoes. No athletic shoes, boots, or fad styles.
- Summer Uniform
- During the warm months, August through mid-October, April, and May, students have the option of wearing khaki knee-length belted uniform shorts available through Parker School Uniforms, Target, Sears, or J.C. Penney (no "cargo" styles). White short-sleeve knit polo style shirts may be worn with the shorts.
- P.E. Uniforms
- P.E. uniforms can be ordered through the school. P.E. uniforms include a white SMCS t-shirt and navy blue shorts. In cooler weather students wear an SMCS sweatshirt (white or navy) and navy blue sweatpants.
- Jewelry and Hair Styles
- Jewelry and makeup are not allowed as they detract from the intended simplicity of the school uniform. Hair must be neat and trimmed, with a natural color and conservative style. As a rule, "if in doubt, leave it out."
