St. Mary of Carmel Catholic School is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade parochial school accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Accreditation Commission and Recognized by the Texas Education Agency.  The school offers a strong academic program for all its students.

SMC SOARS TO NEW HEIGHTS

The development of a child is multifaceted:  the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical, and social dimensions all require care and nurturing for the formation of a healthy child.  We recognize this process by utilizing developmentally appropriate teaching practices designed to address the age group served.  The Diocesan Curriculum Guide serves as a model for content and pacing at each grade level.

The presentation of the curriculum will be enhanced to incorporate an interdisciplinary approach to learning.  Our specific goals are to:

·        help each child find satisfaction in learning;
·        realize that subject matter skills are tools he/she should use in meeting and solving problems;
·        develop self-confidence;
·        think creatively and imaginatively;
·        integrate technology into instruction
·        openly explore new ideas;
·        free the student to explore his/her own resources; and assume responsibility for his/her own learning.
